General Volunteer Interest

Interested in volunteering for the NAIGC? We are always looking for passionate, hardworking individuals to help run the organization. Check out the NAIGC Organizational Chart to see which Department/Team best fits your interests and skill set, and then apply to volunteer using this form. 

Don’t see a Team that exactly fits your interest but have an idea about what you want to bring to the NAIGC? No problem, the NAIGC has a culture of innovation and would love to hear your ideas, so fill out the form and we’ll take it from there!

Volunteer Expectations

Volunteers typically contribute about 3-4 hours a week to their role, in addition to attending monthly meetings and regularly communicating via slack and email between meetings.

Specific Open Volunteer Roles

While we are always accepting volunteer applications across any role, below are some specific positions we are currently seeking to fill.

OPEN OPERATIONS POSITIONS

Director of Engagement (Operations Leadership Team)

This is a new role that will sit on the Operations Leadership Team alongside the Director of Operations, Events Department Director, Outreach Department Director, and National Director. The Director of Engagement will focus on:

      • Being the primary lead for implementing initiatives related to volunteer engagement, retention, and communication
      • Filling slack/gaps in organization positions/functioning as needed
      • Being the primary owner of Operations Policies (ensuring they are reviewed on an annual basis by the right people and uphold the mission and values of the NAIGC)
      • Providing administrative oversight and support of the Board Nomination Committee (the group that helps select the NAIGC Board of Directors each year)
Fundraising Team Member (Fundraising Team, Outreach Department)

The Fundraising Team Member is responsible for working with the Fundraising Team and the Finance Committee to:

      • maintain and grow NAIGC's sponsorship program, maintain sponsorship packet, and develop annual contracts
      • ensure all deliverables in sponsorship contracts are fulfilled, coordinating efforts with other teams when relevant
      • identify and pursue leads for new sponsorships opportunities, and initiate efforts to renew previous sponsorships
      • maintain and grow NAIGC's donor base, host virtual alumni events, and engage NAIGC membership to solicit donations and build a community of long-term support
      • implement fundraising campaigns to engage donors
      • research and pursue grant opportunities
      • provide ideas for generating new sources of non-operating revenue

Scholarship Fundraiser (Fundraising Team, Outreach Department)

The scholarship fundraiser is a cross-team volunteer expected to sit primarily on the Fundraising team, but work with both the Fundraising and Scholarship Teams to:

      • Assist with scholarship-specific fundraising efforts
      • support student athletes from diverse backgrounds
    • We are aiming to run a scholarship-specific fundraiser each year, which will be led by this volunteer, with support from both teams.
South Central Regional Representative (Regions Team, Outreach Department)

The Regional Representative (RR) for the South Central Region is responsible for:

      • Working with the Sanctioning Team and Regionals host team to help coordinate South Central Regionals
      • Facilitating two-way communication between the NAIGC and South Central Region clubs and gymnasts

It is preferred (but not required) that the South Central RR have a current/prior connection to the South Central Region and its teams."

NAIGC Operations is broken down into the Events and Outreach Departments. 

The Events Department is responsible for organizing Nationals, developing and maintaining the NAIGC’s event management procedures, and coordinating resources (software, awards, insurance, people, procedures, etc.) among the NAIGC’s sanctioned events, including all Regionals and Nationals. The Events Department is also responsible for reviewing and revising competition rules and structures at Nationals and NAIGC sponsored events. 

The Outreach Department promotes, manages, and protects the NAIGC brand and content across digital platforms. The department also coordinates outreach within the gymnastics community and the public, manages sponsorship and fundraising efforts, and grows the NAIGC’s membership base to support new clubs.

The Events Department is comprised of the following teams:

  • Healthcare
  • MAG/WAG/T&T Rules 
  • Event Sanctioning 
  • Registration and Scoring

The Outreach Department is comprised of the following teams:

  • Communications 
  • Fundraising 
  • Scholarship
  • Regions

2026 Board Member Elections

The 2026 Board Member election cycle is open! Please view the election page, linked above, for more information about the process and timeline.

 

Overview

The NAIGC Board of Directors is a group of 12 people responsible for developing a vision for the future of the NAIGC and guiding Operations towards that vision. Each year, 4 people are elected to 3-year terms.

Members of the Board are expected to be willing to learn new things and to be passionate about furthering the sport of gymnastics.

 

The average time commitment is 3-5 hours per week with roughly 1 committee meeting per week plus 1 monthly full Board meeting. Officers and Committee Chairs can expect to spend an additional 1-2 hours per week.

Committees

There are 3 committees and Board members are expected to serve on any 2 of them.

  • Development works to improve volunteer experiences, recruit new volunteers, and provide training and professional development.
  • Finance manages the overall budget and develops fundraising opportunities.
  • Policy reviews every policy every year to improve consistency, clarity, and brevity and works with others to draft new policies.

Officers

  • President calls and presides over all Board meetings and leads the Board in developing and implementing a long-term strategy.
  • Vice President manages Board meeting agendas and pre-reads and plans the annual Governance Strategy Meeting.
  • Treasurer manages the NAIGC’s financial records and leads the team handling all monetary issues including payments, bank accounts, and taxes.
  • Secretary manages meeting minutes, Board activity, Board records, voting records, and elections.
