Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering for the NAIGC? We are always looking for passionate, hardworking individuals to help us run the organization. We are currently seeking volunteers for the positions listed below, however if you have a particular interest or team you’d like to join, please let us know and we can make that happen.

Please note that all volunteers are expected to contribute a minimum of 3-4 hours a week to their role. Volunteers are also expected to attend monthly meetings and communicate via slack and email throughout the month.

Events Department

The Events Department is responsible for organizing Nationals, developing and maintaining the NAIGC’s event management procedures, and coordinating resources (software, awards, insurance, people, procedures, etc.) among the NAIGC’s sponsored events, including all Regionals and Nationals. The Events Department also is responsible for reviewing and revising competition rules and structures at Nationals and NAIGC sponsored events. The Nationals Team is responsible for planning our annual National Championships and assisting the Nationals Coordinator with all logistical planning related to nationals including but not limited to banquet and awards, DJ and the dance, march-in, admissions, equipment layout, schedule, in-person site visit, and more. Team members are required to be on-site at Nationals as well.

The Event Sanctioning Team is responsible for providing direct support to sanctioned events host clubs, from the time of sanction approval through the competition date. Tasks include but are not limited to managing communication between the NAIGC and the host club, approving or denying sanction requests, sharing NAIGC policies and requirements, liaising with award vendors, ensuring all event participants have completed required materials (liability waivers, membership fees, etc.), and identifying an-NAIGC volunteer to serve on-site on the day of the event. The event sanctioning team also plans and implements the NAIGC's annual Flip Fest retreat in Tennessee.

The MAG Rules Team is responsible for managing NAIGC’s MAG levels offerings, updating the rules policies appropriately, developing a nationals proposal, creating educational materials for membership, and assisting in Nationals planning and implementation. Team members are expected to attend biweekly/monthly meetings and take on additional tasks to complete throughout the month.

The WAG Rules Team is responsible for managing NAIGC’s WAG levels offerings, updating the rules policies appropriately, developing a nationals proposal, creating educational materials for membership, and assisting in Nationals planning and implementation. Team members are expected to attend biweekly/monthly meetings and take on additional tasks to complete throughout the month.

The T&T Rules Team is responsible for managing and growing the NAIGC’s T&T program. In addition to attending monthly meetings and taking on tasks to complete between meetings, the volunteers on this team are responsible for annual evaluations of T&T Rules, assisting in Nationals planning and implementation, leading growth and outreach initiatives targeting T&T clubs and new meet hosts, developing educational materials for NAIGC T&T athletes, and developing marketing materials to engage new athletes and gyms. T&T Team Members may consider taking on an additional role within the Event Sanctioning team, the Growth and Outreach team, or the Public Relations Team.

The UAG Rules Team is responsible for facilitating the growth of the NAIGC’s UAG program. Team members will attend biweekly/monthly meetings to complete the team's yearly tasks. General tasks include deciding which levels to offer in sanctioned competition and updating the rules policies appropriately, developing a nationals proposal, creating educational materials for membership and assisting in Nationals planning and implementation.

The Healthcare Team is responsible for providing healthcare services at nationals and other sanction events and creating and sharing online healthcare resources including NAICGfit workouts, nutrition advice, and more.  The Healthcare Team is looking for volunteers that have a background knowledge of gymnastics and work as specialized healthcare providers.

Marketing Department

The Marketing Department promotes, manages, and protects the NAIGC brand through the managing social media accounts, coordinating outreach within the gymnastics community and the public, maintaining and growing NAIGC’s sponsorships and donor bases, and growing the NAIGC’s membership base to support new clubs. Design & Merch Team is responsible for managing NAIGC’s brand guidelines and ensuring adherence in merchandise and online (on our website, in outward facing documents, on club shirts that include the NAIGC logo, etc.). The team is also responsible for liaising with vendors, selecting items for our online store, designing Nationals and Flip Fest T-Shirts, managing nationals gifts, purchasing awards for Nationals, and coordinating storage and shipment of supplies (judges' table runners, office supplies, photo op banners, etc.).

The Communications Team is responsible for content creation, brand management, social media postings, and general organization-wide marketing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating digital and print advertisements for the NAIGC, developing posts for social media, (using Canva, InDesign, or other tools), maximizing engagement and overseeing the NAIGC brand in all social media posts and advertisements, and identifying other marketing opportunities to increase brand awareness of the NAIGC. The team is also responsible for managing external communication with membership including responding to all general inquiries and sending out announcement emails each month.

The Fundraising Team is responsible for maintaining and growing NAIGC's sponsorship program, cultivating relationships, and ensuring all deliverables in sponsorship contracts are met. The team is also responsible for growing NAIGC's donor base, engaging alumni, soliciting donations, and building a community of long-term support. The Fundraising Team manages annual fundraising campaigns and brainstorms new methods to generate non-operating revenue.

The Growth & Outreach Team is responsible for growing the NAIGC’s membership base by coordinating outreach efforts within the gymnastics community and the public. The team raises awareness of the NAIGC through diversified marketing materials, advertisements, and partnerships within the gymnastics community. Other outreach efforts include staffing informational booths at USAG Congress and high school competition. The team is also responsible for responding to new club inquiries, supporting new clubs as they develop their programs, and maintaining and distributing resources for new club development, at both the collegiate and community level.

Membership Department

The Membership Department assists with communication between the NAIGC and the membership on the regional level. This department also manages human resources for the NAIGC and administers the NAIGC Scholarship Program each year. The Regions Team is composed of elected Regional Representatives (RR) and appointed Regional Coordinators (RC) who assist with communication at the regional level. 

Regional Representatives are responsible for facilitating inter-club communication on the regional level and two-way communication between member clubs and the Board. They make sure their Region's interests and concerns are being addressed, and act as the first point of contact for all clubs in their region. RRs are responsible for maintaining an updated list of contact information for the clubs in their region.

Regional Coordinators are responsible for facilitating their region’s Regional competition by initiating the bid process and working closely with the host club to plan a high-quality competition. Additionally, RCs will work with their RR to maintain an up-to-date list of contact information for every club in the region, maintain an up-to-date calendar of competitions in the region, and assist in distributing critical and time-sensitive announcements and surveys to the region.

The Scholarship Team is responsible for managing the NAIGC scholarship program, including our First Year Athlete scholarships and our Underrepresented Athlete Scholarships. The team is responsible for promoting the scholarship, reviewing applications, and selecting winners.

The HR Team is responsible for recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training. This includes recruitment via LinkedIn and social media, as well as recruitment during in-person events. The HR team also manages volunteer mentorship, engagement and retention efforts. Finally, the team assists with any grievances as they arise, providing mediated support and assisting with formal filing when necessary.

Technology Department

The Technology Department develops and maintains the NAIGC’s technology resources, performs IT tasks to support the operation of the NAIGC, and manages the NAIGC’s website. To apply for any Technology operations positions, please fill out this application form.

IT Associates are responsible for creating and managing new NAIGC email accounts, managing administration permission and security issues, responding to NAIGC volunteers IT difficulties and assisting with troubleshooting, and finding new IT tools to increase productivity.

The Website Management Team is responsible for managing the naigc.org website on WordPress. Tasks include managing admin rights of WordPress site users, instructing new users on updating their pages, managing WordPress plugins, performing misc. content updates and responding to noted site errors, generating new web pages, and revising site layout periodically.

Overview

The NAIGC Board is responsible for all governance activities, oversight, and health of the organization. It is composed of 12 board members who are elected by the NAIGC membership.

Requirements

  • Serve on at least 2 board committees
  • May serve one additional role or be on one team in operations
  • Cannot be a Department Head (large role in Operations)
  • Cannot be Executive Director (large role in Operations)

  • Elected by general membership for either a 1 or 2-year term
